| Many people travel the USA every year to Indiana in order to experience the thrill of the Indianapolis Speedway. For motor sports enthusiasts, Indianapolis and speed are synonymous. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway was built in 1909 five miles northwest of Indiana's capital on 328 acres of farmland.

The 2 1/2 mile track has four turns, each banked at nine degrees and 12 minutes measuring exactly 440 yards from entrance to exit. The turns are linked together by a pair of long straights and a pair of short ends at the north and south ends of the racetrack.
People from all over the USA and beyond travel to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to experience the trill of racing. From May to August, three exciting races happen and you can travel the USA to see them!
The first race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is in May and it is the famous Indianapolis 500. Following that is the US Formula One Grand Prix then the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard.
If any one of the three races don't satisfy your racing needs, don't worry. You won't have travel the USA any farther because there are a few other raceways in Indianapolis.
Indianapolis Raceway Park is the home to the IROC - International Race of Champions. Indiana Raceway Park was built in 1961 and is home to three tracks. Travel the USA to IRP and see the 2.5 mile race and test course, a .686 mile banked oval track and a 4,400 foot drag strip.
You will have fun traveling the USA to see another side of racing at the Indianapolis Speedrome. The Speedrome is a 1/5 mile, asphalt, oval and figure 8 race track that is home to Late Model, Figure 8, Stock Car, Midget, Legend, I-Car Jasper Modifieds and Bomber racing events.
