| Looking for a little bit of culture when you travel the USA? Hit downtown Chicago. There is a section of downtown affectionately known as The Loop because of the circuit formed by Chicago's elevated "L" trains. The circuit runs along Lake Street on the north, Wabash Avenue on the east, Van Buren Street on the south, and Wells Street on the west. The name, however, originally comes from 1882 when the streetcar looped the area.

| Chicago Theater District By Night - Loop Area |
This area has quite a few shopping opportunities.
During Christmas-time, Chicago's famous Marshall Field's department store dresses up it's windows with fanciful and whimsical displays to get you in the holiday mood. Travel the USA to get to the original Carson Pirie Scott store to buy a gift to take home with you.
When you are done shopping, The Loop also hosts fabulous night life. Take in a show at any of Chicago's fine theaters such as the Chicago Theater, The Goodman Theater, The Cadillac Theater or the beautifully restored Oriental Theater. Perhaps you might think it's worth you traveling the USA to catch the world famous Chicago Symphony or Chicago Opera.
After the theater, take your high heels and tuxedos over to Tantrum at 1023 S State Street and sip martinis. You could also try the slightly more casual Cavanaugh's Bar and Restaurant at 53 W Jackson Blvd to grab a cocktail and a bite to eat with the rest of Chicago's working class.
When you are weary from traveling the USA doing all your shopping, eating, drinking and sightseeing you can lay your head down on the feather soft pillows at the Fairmont Chicago. This modern hotel prides itself on first class service and has magnificent views of the lake and city. If your budget for traveling the USA is a bit leaner, there is The Embassy Suites at 600 N State Street. For a more intimate experience a hidden gem is The Wheeler Mansion which is an 11 room luxury bed and breakfast. The Wheeler Mansion is one of the last remaining stately mansions that had survived the 1871 Great Chicago Fire. Travel the USA to Chicago and get culture, shopping and pure delight!
