Mobile Alabama Sunset | I count myself lucky to have had the good fortune to travel to Mobile. The southern USA has always held a special fascination for me. Mobile Alabama offers all the sites, smells, and food one might associate with "The South".
Start with one of the many antebellum homes such as Oakleigh House Museum, a fine example of the Greek Revival style. Travel to this stately home and walk in the foot steps of President James Garfield, think of how refreshed he felt as he sipped his very first mint julep.
Maybe your not as enthralled by history as I am. Okay, how about travel in the here and now! Mobile is one destination in the USA that offers more. Have you always wanted to go to a college bowl game? The Senior Bowl is played at Ladd-Peebles Memorial Stadium in Mobile is always a great time.
One of my favorite places in the area is Dauphin Island. Beautiful beaches overlooking the Gulf of Mexico and Mobile Bay. Yes, there is plenty of history to be had on the island, but there is also the feeling of solitude and peace as your eyes travel the waters of the Gulf and the Bay.
What do I really recommend you do when you travel to Mobile Alabama? EAT, Mobile offers so much in the way of dining out it is really hard to choose a type of food or style of restaurant. My personal favorite is Wintzell's Oyster House, their Seafood Gumbo will fill your stomach and soothe your soul. They also offer fresh Shrimp, Crab and Oysters. The original Wintzell's Oyster House is located downtown at 605 Dauphin Street.
Mobile Alabama is home to many more activities, and sites. If you travel out and about in the southern USA stop and experience a few.
